Instructor and computer-assisted instructions are available to help students
earn their GED (General Educational Development) certificates. The classes are offered in both an academic learning center setting as well as with on-line Edgenuity GED Preparation Courses that may be used in the Yucaipa Adult School's Computer Lab and classroom. The Edgenuity GED Preparation courses may also be combined with Home Study for those students having a home computer and a high speed Internet connection.
Successful GED recipients are invited to participate in our commencement
ceremony at the end of the school year. If you would like to register, you may do so by visiting Yucaipa Adult School during the following times:
Registration Times Monday-Thursday between 8:00a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
GED TESTING INFORMATION
To register for the GED test go to www.ged.com, complete your profile and background information then select your test details. You need to select your test center, date, and time then review your order and pay for the test on-line.
You must change or cancel an appointment at least 24 hours in advance.
All GED tests are given at an official testing center where you must present a valid government issued photo ID.
Testers with out of state licenses, passports, military ID's or other foreign ID's must provide proof of California residency.
What are the GED Tests?
The GED Tests are four tests in the areas of Reasoning Through Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Mathematics. The questions in each of these tests require you to use general knowledge and thinking skills. Even though you have not finished high school, you have probably gained knowledge and skills through experience, reading and informal training. The GED Tests are designed to measure the important knowledge and skills (usually learned during four years of high school) that you may have obtained in a different manner.
Do you qualify to take the GED Tests?
- Yes, if you are 18 or older.
- Yes, if you are 17, if:
a) You are within 60 days of your 18th birthday OR…
b) You have been out of school 60 days or more, and are within 60 days of when you would have graduated had you stayed in schoolNo if you are 16
Based on the results of your pretest, the teacher will either recommend that you study for some or all of the tests, or he/she will advise you that you are ready to take the actual GED Exam.

The charge for the complete test is $140.00 which includes a California Certification/State fee. The charge for retaking any of the tests is $35.00 each.
