O. Behavior Guidelines for Concurrently Enrolled Minors (CEMs)

Welcome to Yucaipa Adult School!† Yucaipa Adult School has an excellent tradition of providing credit assistance towards a high school diploma in a small and caring learning environment.† Adult School teachers want you to be successful and obtain a high school diploma.† We will do whatever we can to help you reach your diploma goals.

We rely upon students and staff to help foster a school environment that promotes the dignity and respect of all people.† You are expected to act like young men and women and you should expect to be treated as such.† It is a privilege to attend Yucaipa Adult School. As a student, you are expected to adhere to the following guidelines and expectations:

The following rules are structural in nature and help the program run with a minimum of conflict:
  1. Attendance:

Hours for Green Valley High School students are 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and for Yucaipa High School students the hours are 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Students must attend 2 days (minimum) per week for 3 hours per day and must complete 45 hours of attendance as well as all work on the assigned syllabus with passing grades to earn 5 credits by the end of quarter. After you have completed a course you will receive a report card.† A transcript of your grades will be forwarded to the Green Valley High School or the Yucaipa High School registrar at the beginning of the next quarter.
  1. Behavior:
  • This is adult school and you are expected to behave as an adult.
  • You are expected to follow the same rules as Yucaipa High School.
  • When you are on campus, you are expected to be in class, not loitering on campus. If you are not in class you will be asked to leave.† No outside breaks other than restroom use.
  • NO smoking is allowed on campus or in the neighborhood.† If caught smoking, you will possibly be removed from Adult School.
  • Cell phones, and any other valuable items or electronic devices are your responsibility.† We prefer they be left at home.† Yucaipa Adult School assumes no responsibility if they are lost or stolen.
  • You are required to abide by teacherís expectations regarding classroom electronics and cell phone policies. Please have all electronic devices turned off and in your pocket or purse during class time.† If you refuse to abide by the teacherís classroom rules regarding electronic devices, they will be confiscated until the end of the day.† You or your parent/guardian will be able to pick them up in the office.
  • You are expected to follow the district wide dress code. No clothing or jewelry should reference alcohol, tobacco or drugs, nor display offensive or sexual slogans.
  • No drugs, alcohol or weapons (including pocket knives) are allowed.
  • No graffiti or vandalism of any type will be tolerated.
  • No fighting, threatening or posturing of any kind will be tolerated.

Please remember it is a privilege to attend Yucaipa Adult School. Failure to comply with these expectations will jeopardize your enrollment.
